Only a bit over a week has passed since Lirika was shocked to its foundations by the murder of Queen Deidre of Draemir.
Her eldest son Laith has been crowned the new King, and rumors still abound about what exactly happened. The main facts that are agreed upon are that the princess in line for the throne, Niara, was the one who brutally murdered her mother in some blood magic ritual, and then ran away to the Shadowlands.
Draemir is still in mourning for their beloved Queen, and getting a feeling for if the new King is ready for the role he has been thrust into. The public ceremony has been held, but for some reason funerary customs have been held up, and King Laith is being reclusive until the problem is dealt with.
Other cities and kingdoms throught the realm are sending their emissaries to meet with the King and other representatives, to offer their support and condolences as well as to deal with the now very worrisome threat from the Shadowlands.
Niara has been publicly exiled, but it seems more likely that she left for the desert of her own accord. The reports of an unknown army growing in strength within a fortress in the Shadowlands now take on an entirely new tone as it has become clear that Niara has taken command of the forces she has been secretly growing for some time now.
